Hey there, I’m Sophie!
Welcome to Tide and Seek Beach School. Thanks for dropping by.
I grew up in the beautiful seaside town of Broadstairs, enjoying summers in our family beach hut on Stone Bay. My days were spent exploring the rock pools, hunting for beach treasure, building sandcastles and bodyboarding – you could say my love of the coast started at an early age!
I spent a decade living in London, where I received my BA Hons in Primary Education and worked as a teacher. Each year, I would take my Year 6 class on a residential trip to Dartmoor National Park. Seeing the transformation and joy a week out on the wild, rugged moors brought to the children, was life-changing. Since then, the idea of a beach school has been slowly simmering away in the back of my mind. Two children and a move back to Broadstairs later, and Tide and Seek has finally been born – I’m so excited to share it with you!
I am particularly interested in researching the benefits of outdoor learning and believe all children should be given opportunities to connect with their local, natural environment.
Tide and Seek was founded to offer children, their educators and their families a chance to engage in purposeful and developmentally appropriate creative learning experiences. We want to ignite the imagination, spark creativity, promote wellbeing, breathe in the fresh, sea air and fill young hearts and minds with the beauty and wonder of nature.
I’d love to hear from you – if you have any questions and want to find out more, email me on sophie@tideandseekbeachschool.co.uk
“It’s so lovely seeing children outside enjoying all that the beach has to offer. They’re playing and learning at the same time. Sophie is such a wonderful teacher!”
